About Keep Network (KEEP)

What is Keep Network (KEEP)?

Launched in 2017, Keep Network is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables its users to keep their data private, off-chain and secure, while still being able to share it with others. The network is secured by a group of nodes called "keepers," who work collectively to keep information safe via "keeps" (a special type of smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain).

Developed by a team of experienced developers, Keep Network is backed by several big names in the cryptocurrency space, including Aave, Uniswap and Compound Finance.

The tBTC Bitcoin bridge, a permissionless bridge between Bitcoin and Ethereum, is one of the first applications to launch on the Keep Network. This open-source project allows users to migrate the value of their Bitcoin holdings to Ethereum's vast DeFi ecosystem.

KEEP Price (Keep Network)

KEEP's price skyrocketed to $6.10 shortly after its launch. However, it was unable to maintain its momentum and fell to under $1 just a day later. Since then, its price has remained fairly consistent, with no major fluctuations.

What Is KEEP Used For?

KEEP is the native token of the Keep Network. Apart from being used to pay fees to keepers, it's also used to incentivize users to participate in the network. KEEP tokens are required to interact with keep contracts and can be staked by keepers to earn rewards. KEEP is also used as collateral in the tBTC system.

KEEP has a total and max supply of 1 billion. A four-year vesting period is in place for tokens held by the team.

Keep Network was founded in 2017 by Matt Luongo, a co-founder of the decentralized Ethereum Token exchange ForkDelta, and Cobin Pon, a Silicon Valley veteran and early investor in Ethereum. The team is based in San Francisco, California.

How to Store KEEP

As a rule of thumb, offline (“cold”) wallets are usually more secure than online (“hot”) wallets. That said, KEEP is an ERC-20 token and can be stored in any Ethereum-compatible wallet, including Ledger Nano S and Trezor Model One.
