What Is Walken (WLKN)?

Walken (WLKN) is a Solana blockchain-based NFT game that combines conceptual elements of play-to-earn (P2E) and move-to-earn (M2E). The game was launched in June 2022 via the Bybit Launchpad.

Players navigate through Walken by controlling special characters called CAThletes (which can be minted into NFTs), and earn cryptocurrency by competing in CAThlete battles and exercising in real life. The game is available for both iOS and Android, although wearable devices are currently supported only for iOS devices. These include the Apple Watch, Mi Band and Garmin.

Walken has a marketplace where you can trade CAThletes and other in-game assets. The game uses three cryptocurrencies: WLKN, GEM and Solana’s native SOL. WLKN and GEM are both play-to-earn tokens. Walken’s main crypto token is WLKN, which you can earn by winning in-game competitions. GEM is earned by completing real-life exercise, such as walking and running. Finally, SOL is used to pay transaction fees, and to buy and sell items on the Walken marketplace.

Walken (WLKN) Price 

The WLKN token debuted in early August 2022 at just under $0.09. In its first few weeks on the market, WLKN’s price experienced a slight decline to $0.07, continuing its slide to around $0.04 mid-September. Since that time, the token’s price has largely been stable or registered modest increases and is currently trading at over $0.05.

What Is WLKN Used For?

WLKN is a key utility token on the Walken platform. Players are rewarded with WLKN for winning competitive battles in the game. The tokens can then be used to level up CAThletes, mint CAThletes into NFTs or purchase items on the Walken marketplace. 

The WLKN token has two additional important functions: Governance and staking. Holders of WLKN can cast their votes on issues concerning the protocol’s functionality and features, and you can earn crypto rewards by staking your WLKN.

WLKN Tokenomics

The WLKN crypto token is based on Solana’s SPL default standard for fungible tokens, SPL. WLKN is a supply-capped token, with both total and max supply specified at 2 billion.

Planned token allocation shares for WLKN are as follows:

• Token sale – 25.35%

• Reserved for rewards, staking and airdrops – 38.65%

• Core team and advisors – 17%

• Treasury and marketing – 15%

• Provide liquidity on centralized and decentralized exchange platforms as needed – 4%

Who Is the Founder of Walken? 

Walken was founded by three technology professionals from Belarus: Alexei Kulevets (CEO), Alexei Porodzinsky (Business Development Director) and Konstantin Kozlovsky (Product Director).

How to Store WLKN

Within the game's environment, there are three different kinds of wallets used to store crypto assets. The golden-orange wallet type is used to store WLKN tokens. If you wish to withdraw your WLKN tokens to store them in your own blockchain wallet, you’ll need to satisfy several minimum withdrawal requirements, the most important of which are to own at least one Walken NFT and to have a certain amount of WLKN in your pending balance.

To store WLKN in your own wallet, you can use some of the popular wallets compatible with Solana’s SPL token standard, such as Phantom or Sollet.
