General Advice when Trading on P2P

  1. Follow all instructions carefully and make sure you complete your payment in one single transfer (avoid split payments) or release the crypto after confirming the funds are in your account, within the given time limit.
  2. Read the offer terms thoroughly. Double-check the amount, payment method, and any conditions before proceeding with the payment. Do not use or accept third-party accounts or release the coins if the payment looks suspicious.
  3. Protect your personal information. Never share sensitive details and stay alert to potential scams or suspicious behavior.
  4. Review the important notes for P2P trading before starting. They offer essential safety tips and insights to help you trade confidently.
  5. Check the buyer or seller’s reputation before trading. Look at their completion rate, feedback, and past comments from other traders.
  6. Trade only inside the Bybit P2P Order Chat. Only communicate with them via the Bybit P2P Order Chat as chatting outside Bybit (Telegram/WhatsApp) is unsafe.
  7. Use Customer Support only when necessary. Most issues can be resolved faster and more smoothly through direct communication with your counterparty. Please note that there is no 100% guarantee that Customer Support can recover losses from incorrect actions. For more information about the appeal process, please refer to How to Check on Your P2P Appeal Status as a Buyer?
  8. Communicate clearly and stay cooperative. Good communication is usually the quickest and most effective way to resolve misunderstandings or disputes. Upload full, uncropped proof to avoid issues.

Common Buyer Scenarios

Please find below some of the most common scenarios and their solutions that may be of help to buyers.

Scenario

Solutions

Prevention tips

1. I have made the payment but forgot to click the Payment Completed button, resulting in the order being canceled automatically.

Solution 1: Place a new order with the SAME amount from the SAME seller. Provide proof of payment and make sure you click the Payment Completed button this time.

Solution 2: Request a Crypto Internal Transfer from the seller in the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page. Share your Bybit account details or crypto deposit QR Code/Wallet Address. Note that while Internal transfers do not have any transaction fees, On-Chain transfers may incur fees.

Solution 3: Ask the seller for a refund through the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page. Provide refund details if necessary. Buyers usually bear transaction fees for refunds.

To avoid similar situations in the future, please always remember to click the Payment Completed button after making the payment to confirm the transaction before the countdown finishes. This is to notify the system and the seller that the transaction has been successfully processed. Otherwise, the system will assume that you did not actually make the payment. Additionally, you may consider setting reminders to prompt you to complete the necessary steps. You can find the P2P Terms of User Service here.

2. I paid to the wrong bank account

Request a transfer recall to your bank.

Contact your bank immediately and request a transfer recall. If the reversal is not possible, please obtain and provide a video recording of your chat conversation with the bank’s support team confirming this.

After that, please submit an appeal so our support team can provide you with the necessary guidance.

Always copy and paste the account information directly from the order page, and carefully compare both the account name and account number of the counterparty before making any payment.

3. I have paid more than the required amount to the seller and the order has been completed. However, I only received the required amount of coin.

Solution 1: Placing a new order with the overpaid amount from the same seller to lock in the equivalent crypto amount. Provide proof of payment in the Order Chat and negotiate for coin released with the seller.

Solution 2: Request a Crypto Internal Transfer from the seller in the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page. Share your Bybit account details or crypto deposit QR Code/Wallet Address. Please note that while Internal Transfer has no transaction fee, On-Chain transfer may incur fees.

Solution 3: Ask the seller for a refund through the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page. Provide refund details if necessary. Keep in mind that buyers usually bear transaction fees for refunds.

To avoid similar situations in the future, we strongly advise you to carefully verify the transaction details before completing any transactions and ensure that the amount you pay precisely aligns with the seller's request. Additionally, we recommend maintaining clear and effective communication with the seller to minimize the risk of misunderstandings through the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page.

4. I Sent Split Payments

Inform the seller and provide the necessary payment receipts.

Inform the seller in the order chat about the reason for the split payment (eg. transfer limits from a bank) and send all payment receipts clearly showing the total amount paid. By providing refund details that match the original payee information, the seller can process the refund correctly.

If this issue comes from a bank limitation, contact your bank to temporarily increase your transfer limit in order to avoid splitting payments. Please note that all payments made on Bybit P2P Trading must always be done within a single transaction of the exact order amount. Kindly note that we may take action if we receive repeated appeals against the same user due to split payment. For more information, please refer to our P2P Terms of User Service.

5. The seller received your payment but refused to proceed with the trade (e.g., denies receiving funds, refuses to release crypto, or declines to continue).

Solution 1: Request a Crypto Internal Transfer from the seller in the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page. Share your Bybit account details or crypto deposit QR Code/Wallet Address. Please note that while Internal Transfer has no transaction fee, On-Chain transfer may incur fees.

Solution 2: Ask the seller for a refund through the Order Chat Box on the P2P Order Page. Provide refund details if necessary. Keep in mind that buyers usually bear transaction fees for refunds. If the seller still refuses to cooperate, please submit an appeal.

Always trade with sellers who have an overall good reputation on Bybit P2P Trading by checking if they have a high completion rate, a high good rating and positive reviews left by other counterparties.

6. The seller asks you to pay to an account that does not match their verified Bybit name.

Do not send any payment.

Instead, inform the seller that third-party payments are prohibited and proceed to cancel the order. If the seller insists, please immediately submit an appeal.

As this is a violation of Bybit P2P rule, you should always check the seller’s verified payment name before paying and never agree to send money to any third-party account.

Only trust the payment details displayed directly on the P2P order page.

7. I have paid an extra fee as required by the seller.

Leave a review for your counterparty.

Unfortunately, when you execute the instructions and pay the extra fees, it means you are compromised and agree with the conditions set by the seller. Thus, it is unlikely that you can trace and get a refund for the overpaid fees as the order had been completed.

However, you may rate your trading experience and your review will be reflected in the counterpart’s Good Rating percentage and trading reputation. Your review will be shown publicly and may influence other traders’ decisions. A user guide for the review feature can be found here.

To avoid similar situations in the future, we recommend not compromising and making the payment if you disagree with paying the extra fee. Instead, you can submit an appeal and our P2P appeal support specialist will intervene and provide assistance. You can find a guide on how to submit a P2P Order appeal here.

8. The counterparty has used profanity or offensive language against me.

Do not engage in an argument and leave a review for your counterparty.

If you didn’t experience any financial dispute but were emotionally hurt due to the rudeness and offensive language from the counterparty, please stay calm and ignore any form of disrespectful behavior.

9. I have been scammed outside the platform.

  1. A counterparty redirects communication to WhatsApp, Telegram or other channels,
  2. A counterparty placed a duplicate Order on Bybit and on another exchange platform.

Record all communication and report the incident.

Make sure to pre-record all communication to be one step ahead and gather all evidence for the customer support review. Report the incident via appeal as soon as it occurred. Stop all communication with the scammer, wait for the customer support intervention and carefully follow all provided instructions to assist in resolving your case.

You should ensure to keep all communication on Bybit, in your dedicated P2P chat and never to agree to off-platform Trades. It is also important to report any suspicious behavior.
