Detailed Summary

When you build a successful track record on Bybit's TradFi platform, your performance can turn into a tangible, monetizable asset. Copy trading on TradFi lets experienced Master Traders open positions across forex, commodities (including metals and oil), indices and US stock CFDs via MT5. Moreover, Followers mirror your trades automatically, and you earn a cut of their resulting profits.

In this article, we describe what a TradFi Master Trader is and why the role appeals to experienced traders. We also share what’s required to apply, how the application and account setup process works and how to manage your profile and Follower base once you’re approved.

Key Takeaways:

  • Master Traders earn a share of Follower profits across forex, commodities, indices and US stock CFD trades, with published tier rates ranging from 15% to 30%, depending upon rank.

  • No prior track record is required before you apply, though a working knowledge of MT5 is expected.

  • Each eligible Master Trader Subaccount can have up to 300 Followers, depending upon the trader’s rank, while Invitation Links plus Follower Whitelist settings control access for Followers.

What is a TradFi Copy Trading Master Trader?

A TradFi Master Trader is a Bybit user whose trades on the exchange's MT5 platform are automatically replicated in the accounts of everyone who chooses to follow that user. The Master Trader places an order, such as opening an EUR/USD position or a gold CFD, and each Follower's account opens a proportional position, adjusted for their allocated investment amount.

The copying takes place at the execution layer, so a Follower's position mirrors the Master Trader's entries and exits without manual input. (If you're evaluating the relationship from the Follower side, our TradFi Follower guide explains how copying works from your account.)

Compensation for Master Traders runs on a profit-sharing model rather than with a subscription fee. Once a Follower's copied trades generate net profit above the previous high-water mark, a percentage of that gain is paid to the Master Trader and settled weekly. Our TradFi Profit Sharing guide explains the calculation in detail. The overall mechanism means that a Master Trader is compensated for compounding gains, not accumulated trading volume.

Why become a TradFi Master Trader?

Becoming a Master Trader converts your trading skills into an additional income stream. The overall structure of the program rewards traders who carefully plan for both access control and the delivery of consistent results. Core benefits of becoming a Bybit TradFi Master Trader include the following:

  • Profit-sharing opportunities: You can operate publicly and appear in Bybit's ranked recommendation algorithm, which maximizes visibility but exposes your strategy to anyone browsing the platform. Alternatively, you can enable the Follower Whitelist and trade for a controlled, invitation-only group, trading discoverability for privacy.

  • Scalable Follower base: Follower limits rise with your ranking tier. In addition, you can simultaneously lead trades from multiple eligible Subaccounts in order to compound your earning potential.

  • Multiasset market access: MT5 execution covers forex, indices, US stock CFDs and commodities, including metals and oil, via a single account.

  • Follower management tools: Invitation Links and the Follower Whitelist let you decide exactly who copies your trades.

  • MT5 trading tools: You get access to MT5's native charting, technical analysis and order-execution features, the same tool set that professional forex traders already use.

Requirements before applying

Before submitting an application to become a Master Trader, three separate eligibility layers determine whether Bybit approves your account. These concern the account’s eligibility criteria and trading setup. For the full list of conditions, refer to the Help Center details on applying to become a Master Trader.

Account eligibility

You must apply through an eligible Bybit Subaccount, rather than via your Main Account. You must have also completed KYC verification before submission. A Subaccount that already holds a TradFi (MT5) account or was previously registered as a Copy Trading Pro Master Trader account is ineligible, and will be rejected on review.

Trading setup

TradFi accounts use USDx, an internal dollar-denominated balance unit, as margin, rather than USDT directly. The platform supports forex, indices, US stock CFDs and commodities, including metals and oil, and executes through what Bybit calls Tight-Spread mode.

Trading hours follow instrument-specific sessions, so certain currency pairs go offline outside their native market hours, regardless of when you plan to trade.

How to apply as a TradFi Master Trader

Once you've confirmed that your Subaccount meets the eligibility requirements described above, the application itself takes only a few steps on the Bybit App.

1. Log in to the eligible Bybit Subaccount you intend to use.

2. From the homescreen, tap on More, then Copy Trading, then TradFi, and select Become A Trader.

3. Review the Master Trader Agreement and accept the terms before proceeding.

4. Complete the application form. This covers your profile details, nickname and initial settings, such as minimum investment and profit-sharing ratio.

5. Confirm your TradFi Master Trader Agreement.

6. After approval, which typically takes about an hour, log in and access the MT5 account that's automatically been created for you.

Notes

  • On desktop, the initial navigation is via Tools in the top menu → Copy Trading  Copy Trading TradFi. After that, the remaining steps match the App process described above.

  • Don't manually create a separate TradFi Account or start following another Master Trader while your application is under review, since either action can affect your eligibility outcome. If your application is rejected, please review the relevant Bybit guide for eligibility criteria in order to avoid unnecessary resubmission.

How to connect MT5 and fund your account

Approval alone doesn't put you in a position to trade: you still need to connect the credentials Bybit generates to the MetaTrader 5 application itself.

You’ll also need to fund your TradFi account. Once you’re approved, on the Bybit App go to Assets at the bottom of the homescreen, then tap on Transfer.

Transfer USDT from your Main Account’s Funding Account to your TradFi Copy Trading Funding Account. Bybit converts your USDt into USDx (the internal unit used to denominate your MT5 balance) at a fixed 1:1 ratio.

Note: Via desktop, the equivalent entry point sits under the TradFi asset page in your account settings.

How to manage your profile and Followers

Approval and setup are only the starting points. Ongoing performance depends upon how actively you monitor metrics and manage who has access to your trading strategy.

Monitor performance

Your Trader's Center dashboard on the Bybit App is reachable through MoreCopy TradingTradFiTrader's Center. Here, you can see your key performance parameters, such as total equity, unrealized P&L, earnings, realized profit sharing amounts, and current and cumulative Follower counts.

Manage Follower access

Invitation Links and the Follower Whitelist are two main tools to manage your Followers. An Invitation Link lets new Followers join and start copying without manual confirmation on your end, which is useful for public discovery, while the Whitelist restricts following to UIDs you've explicitly approved. This allows you to trade visibility for control, removing you from Bybit's recommendation algorithm in the process. (UID limits, link expiration options and revocation behavior are covered in the Follower management guide.)

Edit profile and Follower settings

From Personal Settings, you can update your profile picture, nickname, bio, social contact, minimum investment and profit-sharing ratio. The ratio can only change once every 24 hours, and any adjustment takes effect the Monday after next, rather than immediately, so timing a change requires some planning ahead.

Risks and responsibilities

Leading trades for other accounts carries obligations that go beyond your own risk tolerance, since every position you open now affects not only your own capital but also that of your Followers. The key risks and responsibilities of being a Master Trader include the following:

  • Trading risk: Losses and liquidation events on your positions flow directly through to Followers' copied accounts, so a drawdown you can tolerate personally may exceed what a Follower with more limited capital has signed up for.

  • Profit-sharing conditions: The high-water mark principle means that prior losses must be fully recovered before new profits become eligible for sharing again. This can mean extended stretches with no payout.

  • Trading availability and data delays: TradFi sessions follow instrument-specific hours. Holidays, scheduled maintenance and non-real-time position reporting can all interrupt copy execution or delay the data that Followers see.

  • Master Trader conduct: Bybit prohibits copying another Master Trader's trades into your own strategy, as well as making misleading profit claims, order-padding and manipulating performance statistics. Such breaches are taken seriously, and can result in account restrictions or removal from the Master Trader program.

The bottom line

TradFi Copy Trading gives traders with a demonstrable edge in forex, indices, US stock CFDs and/or commodities a great way to earn additional income beyond their own account’s performance. The tier system scales Follower limits and profit-sharing rates as your rank improves; running multiple eligible Subaccounts can further compound your earning potential.

Combined with the Follower Whitelist and Invitation Link tools, the program gives you flexible control over who accesses your strategy.

If the eligibility requirements above fit your account, you can apply to become a TradFi Master Trader on Bybit today.
