Bybit CEO Ben Zhou on the Bear Market: 'We’ve Been Busy Building'
Sep 12, 2023

The world of cryptocurrency is a constantly evolving landscape, and staying ahead of the curve requires keen insights from industry leaders. One leader, our very own CEO, Ben Zhou, recently joined a panel discussion at Chainanalysis’ event: “From Winter to Spring: Navigating the Crypto Fast Lane.”

Zhou shared his thoughts on a range of topics, providing insights into the crypto industry's current state and future opportunities.

“I think regulators are learning how to deal with crypto as we grow.” Zhou emphasized that Bybit is actively engaging with regulators in various regions, including the UAE and Hong Kong. He added, “We work with regulators to ensure compliance, and we've come a long way in communicating effectively with them.” This patient approach, he believes, will make the crypto world more accessible as time goes on.

When asked about the bear market, Zhou shared his journey, saying, “We've been busy building.” After FTX collapsed, Zhou spotted a gap in the market for a fluid and comprehensive trading platform. Early in 2023, Bybit crafted a transparent, Unified Trading System (UTA) that won market confidence. “On UTA margin is connected, which allows for extremely sophisticated trading operations. One of the key goals this bear market was to fill the gap in the market and build a whole unified trading system.”

Finally, Zhou discussed the growing adoption of stablecoins within the crypto ecosystem. “Definitely the adoption of stablecoins has made users easily onboard onto crypto, making things a lot more efficient.” Stablecoins, with their price stability, have provided a gateway for users to enter the crypto market with confidence. “This development has contributed to the broader acceptance of cryptocurrencies among mainstream users,” Zhou added.
