In the heart of the world's most crypto-friendly city-state, Dubai, a groundbreaking event unfolded that set a new benchmark for technological innovation aimed at societal benefit. The AI-City Quest 2024 Hackathon, organized by AUS, and supported by Bybit in collaboration with Blockchain for Good Alliance, ESGRS, and MIT Senseable City Lab, demonstrated the transformative potential of blockchain technology in addressing urban challenges. This event marks the second successful hackathon following Bybit's inaugural event in 2023.
Blockchain for Good: A Vision Realized in Dubai
The hackathon's theme, "AI-City Quest 2024," offered participants a total prize pool of 27,000 AED and challenged them to delve into the realm of smart cities. This year, the focus was on peer-to-peer (P2P) energy trading using blockchain technology, emphasizing the key values of using blockchain for societal improvements.
"Blockchain technology holds incredible promise not just for economic systems but for creating solutions that address real-world issues such as energy distribution and urban planning," said Yun Han Wong, Web 3 Lead at Moledao and Community Advocate at Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA). "Our support for this event stems from our belief in 'Care, Create, Change.' We are committed to fostering innovations that can significantly enhance societal well-being."
Phoebe Peng also mentioned that Bybit, as the crypto ark and gateway to web3, will continue to support BGA and AUS to facilitate innovation by using blockchain technology.
Promising Winners and Their Impactful Solutions
Among the participants, three projects stood out for their innovative approach and potential impact:
Team Tech Titans claimed the third prize, earning 6,000 AED.
